Privacy Policy

Last amended on 10 August 2026

This is the privacy policy of:

Revers bv, a private limited company, with its registered office at Negenoogstraat 12, 9140 Temse, registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (KBO) under company number 1029.529.591, hereinafter referred to as “Revers”, “we” or “us”.

Revers operates the Revers mobile application and the website www.reversforwomen.be, together with the associated online services (the “Platform”, as defined in the terms and conditions): a community where women discover activities and events and make new contacts. We believe it is important that you know what personal data we process, why we do so and what rights you have.

We process your personal data in a secure and lawful manner, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (the “GDPR”) and Belgian data protection legislation. Capitalised terms not defined in this privacy policy have the meanings given to them by the GDPR. Terms defined in Revers’ terms and conditions have the same meanings in this privacy policy.

Please read this privacy policy carefully. It describes not only your rights, but also how you can exercise those rights.

1. Changes to this privacy policy

We may amend this privacy policy. The date at the top of this privacy policy indicates when the last amendment was made. We will notify you in advance of any substantial changes via the Platform or by email.

The most recent version is always available at https://reversforwomen.be/privacy/ and in the App.

2. Who processes your personal data?

Revers is the Data Controller for the processing of the personal data we collect via the Platform, via your Account, via your contact with us, via notifications and via the organisation of our own events.

When we pass on your registration to an Organiser, we are the Data Controller for that transfer. The Organiser is the separate and independent Data Controller for everything they subsequently do with your personal data, in accordance with their own privacy policy. For questions about that further processing, please contact the relevant Organiser.

3. What personal data do we process, from whom and why?

Below you will find, for each category of data subject, what personal data we process, for what purpose and on what legal basis. Where we process data on the basis of a legitimate interest, we have weighed that interest against your rights and freedoms.

Purpose To manage registrations, forward your registration to the Organiser, organise our own events and follow up afterwards.
Legal basis The performance of the contract between you and us. For the transfer of data to the Organiser: the performance of the contract and our legitimate interest in being able to process your registration. For sensitive practical details such as dietary requirements: your explicit consent.

Purpose To assess your application and communicate with you regarding the progress of the recruitment process. With your consent, we may retain your data for future vacancies.
Legal basis Our legitimate interest in an efficient selection process, and your consent to the retention of your data for future vacancies.

4. Sex and gender identity

An Account is reserved for people who identify as women. We therefore ask you to provide a statement to this effect when you register. The website itself is accessible to everyone.

We do not ask for proof of your sex or gender identity, we do not ask for an identity document, and we do not carry out any form of verification, including verification based on your face, your voice or other biometric data.

We use your declaration solely to determine whether you can gain access to the Platform. We do not derive any further data from that declaration and we do not share it with third parties, except for the recipients mentioned in Article 7 and within the limits described therein.

5. Special categories of personal data and minors

We do not ask you for special categories of personal data, such as data relating to your health, your sexual orientation, your religious or philosophical beliefs, your political opinions or your racial or ethnic origin. The declaration referred to in Article 4 does not fall within this scope: sex and gender identity are not special categories within the meaning of Article 9 of the GDPR.

The Platform does, however, allow you to share information about yourself, in your profile, in groups or in messages. If, in doing so, you share special categories of personal data, you do so on your own initiative and you yourself disclose that data to the Users to whom you communicate it. We then process that data either because you have apparently made it public yourself, or on the basis of explicit consent which we request separately. We advise you to exercise caution when sharing such data.

In the context of reports and moderation, we may inevitably become aware of special categories of personal data. We process such data only to the extent necessary for handling the report and for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

The Platform is not intended for persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we discover that an Account has been created by a minor, we will delete that Account and the associated personal data, except for any data that we are required to retain under Article 10 or by law.

6. Automated decision-making and profiling

We use your profile, your interests and your activity on the Platform to suggest events, groups and contacts that may be relevant to you. These suggestions have no legal consequences for you and do not significantly affect you.

We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal effects on you or significantly affect you. Decisions to suspend or terminate an Account are made or reviewed by a Revers employee.

7. Who has access to your personal data?

Other Users have access to the data you make visible in your profile and to the content and messages you share with them. You decide for yourself which data you make visible via your Account settings.

Organisers receive the data necessary for your registration for or participation in their event. They process this data as independent Data Controllers, in accordance with their own privacy policy.

We use the following categories of service providers, who act as Data Processors on our behalf:

Hosting and infrastructure Supabase
App development and maintenance Revers itself
Sign-up and authentication Apple and Google
Push messages and notifications Expo, in collaboration with Apple and Google
Crash and error reporting Sentry
Email, moderation alerts and newsletters Resend
Website usage analytics Plausible
Moderation and security tools Revers itself, via its admin panel and a content filter within the app
Customer support Revers itself, via email

We enter into a data processing agreement with each service provider that complies with Article 28 of the GDPR before they process personal data on our behalf.

In addition, we may disclose your personal data to:

  • our bookkeeper, accountant, insurer, solicitors or other professional advisers, when we request their assistance;
  • the judicial, police or administrative authorities, where we are legally obliged to do so, to comply with a binding decision, or where this is necessary to prevent or combat a serious threat to the safety of individuals;
  • Child Focus and other bodies responsible for combating child sexual abuse, in accordance with the child safety standard set out in our terms and conditions; and
  • a transferee or legal successor, in the context of a reorganisation, merger or transfer of our business, in which case we will ensure that your data continues to be protected under this privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal data or make it available to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

8. Transfer outside the European Economic Area

We are a Belgian company and aim to process your personal data within the European Economic Area.

Some of our service providers may process your personal data outside the European Economic Area, in particular Apple, Google, Expo and Sentry, which are based in the United States.

Where we transfer personal data to a country which, according to the European Commission, does not offer an adequate level of protection, we take the necessary measures to ensure an equivalent level of protection, including the use of standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, supplemented where appropriate by additional technical and organisational measures. You can request a copy of these safeguards using the contact details in Article 2.

9. How do we protect your personal data?

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access and unauthorised alteration. These measures include:

  • encrypted connections (HTTPS and TLS) between the App, the Website and our servers;
  • role-based access control, so that staff and systems only have access to what is necessary for their role;
  • security rules at database level, ensuring that Users cannot read or alter other Users’ data without authorisation;
  • logging of relevant security and moderation events;
  • back-ups via our hosting provider; and
  • internal confidentiality agreements.

Data stored at rest with our hosting provider is secured in accordance with that provider’s standards.

If a personal data breach occurs that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will report it to the Data Protection Authority no later than 72 hours after we become aware of it. If the breach poses a high risk, we will also notify you without delay. We have an internal procedure in place for this purpose.

10. How long do we retain your personal data?

We do not retain your personal data for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law, or is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

We apply the following retention periods:

Account and profile Up to 30 days after the deletion of your Account.
Messages and interactions with other Users For as long as your Account is active, and in any event for up to 30 days after your Account is deleted.
Event registrations For as long as your Account remains active, or until the event is removed from the Platform.
Reports, moderation files and measures taken For as long as necessary for processing and follow-up, and for longer if necessary to defend a legal right or to follow up on repeated infringements.
Data relating to CSAE or CSAM For as long as required or permitted by law in the context of a report or an investigation.
Communication and complaints 30 days after resolution.
Newsletter and marketing Until you unsubscribe, and thereafter limited to the data necessary to process your unsubscription.
Block list (to enforce a refused re-registration) Limited to an encrypted identifier of the email address, for 24 months, based on our legitimate interest in the security of the Platform.
Technical log files 30 days.
Accounting records Seven years, in accordance with the law.
Job application data Up to one month after the end of the recruitment process, or longer with your consent.

11. What rights do you have?

Within the limits of the applicable legislation, you have the right:

  • to find out whether we are processing your personal data and, if so, to access that personal data;
  • to have inaccurate or incomplete personal data rectified without delay;
  • to have your personal data erased;
  • to have the processing restricted;
  • to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and to have it transferred to another data controller;
  • to object to the processing of your personal data based on our legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time and without giving reasons; and
  • to withdraw your consent at any time, without this affecting the lawfulness of the processing prior to withdrawal.

You may exercise these rights using the contact details set out in Article 2. We will respond within one month of receiving your request. This period may be extended by two months if your request is complex; we will inform you of this. We may ask you to prove your identity if we have reasonable doubts about it.

You can also delete your Account yourself using the functionality provided for this purpose in the App, via https://reversforwomen.be/account-verwijderen/ or via info@reversforwomen.be. We will then delete the associated personal data, with the exception of any data we are required to retain under Article 10 or a legal obligation.

We may refuse a request or grant it only in part where the law requires or permits us to do so, for example where the data is necessary for the defence of a legal claim, where the rights of other Users are at risk, or where a statutory retention obligation applies. We will provide reasons for our decision.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, contact@apd-gba.be, www.gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be, or with the supervisory authority in your country of habitual residence. You may also bring a claim before the competent court at any time.

12. Cookies

The Website and the App use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for them to function, to keep you logged in and to secure them.

We use Plausible for the Website’s statistics. Plausible does not set cookies and does not track you across different websites.

We do not set cookies or other technologies for advertising purposes, and we do not make data available to advertisers.

If we introduce a technology at a later date that requires your consent, we will ask for that consent in advance and you may withdraw it at any time.

13. Contact

If you have any questions about this privacy policy or the processing of your personal data, you can contact us using the contact details in section 2.
